Affordable fashion is more than good deals and the discounted clothing. Constantly shopping the latest deals could actually cost more, as opposed to buying quality wardrobe staples. This inspired me to create the year round capsule wardrobe last year! It was so popular, I have done it again this year. Check out this capsule wardrobe 2024!

The idea of my capsule is to continuously shop less and wear more of what I already own. Interested in joining me? Read on for more! Throughout 2024, I will share daily outfits using this 74 piece capsule wardrobe.

CAPSULE WARDROBE 2024

This year round capsule wardrobe 2024 contains 74 items – including tops, layers, bottoms, dresses, and shoes. While 74 may seem like a lot, this is to accommodate the ever changing and unpredictable weather of Northeast Ohio! You may require more, or less, items depending on your location and lifestyle.

This capsule includes basic, neutral pieces. You may already own a lot of similar items. I want this page to be inspiration for you to plan daily outfits & encourage you to shop your closet FIRST and create similar looks to the ones below.

I’ll continue to post seasonal capsule wardrobe guides and share deals and other outfit inspo on Instagram and Facebook! These outfits will also be saved to this Pinterest board. Be sure to follow me on your favorite platform for easy access to this year round capsule wardrobe.

What is a capsule wardrobe?

If you are new to this concept, you are likely new here! A capsule wardrobe is a small collection of clothing items that can be mixed and matched together to create a wide variety of outfits. A successful capsule wardrobe will utilize each piece in numerous outfits. The goal of a capsule wardrobe is to maximize the number of wears for each item in the wardrobe.

How many clothing items should be in a capsule wardrobe?

The number of items in a personalized capsule wardrobe vary, depending on your needs of the capsule. A typical seasonal capsule wardrobe will have about 20-30 pieces. A minimalist capsule could have as few as 10 items. This year round capsule wardrobe 2024 includes 74 items. Again, the number of items will vary based on lifestyle, preferences, location, etc.

What is not included in this capsule wardrobe 2024?

Outerwear and accessories are not included in this capsule wardrobe. This wardrobe focuses on a neutral base outfit, which will coordinate well with nearly any accessory style you have. Outerwear is also a personal preference and will depend greatly on your unique location.

Why is Gucci So Expensive?

Gucci is a widely recognized and well known luxury fashion brand. Known for it’s iconic designs in clothing, shoes, handbags, and more. You can easily spot the double G loco and know what brand it is!

There are a few iconic staples, such as the Soho Disco Bag and infamous footwear that are highly sought after and a must for today’s fashionistas.

If you’ve been shopping around (or just window shopping) for Gucci pieces, you may have experienced “sticker shock”. You know, the feeling of disbelief after realizing the cost associated with a product. This post will cover some of the potential reasons that contribute to the expensive products associated with Gucci.

Why is Gucci So Expensive?

1. Production Artistry

As we think through the production process, skilled workers are a requirement in order to execute a luxury product of highly sought after materials from design to final product.

Many of Gucci’s most expensive products are made by hand in Italy and other European countries. Labor costs in these countries is much higher as compared to other countries, like China, where cheaper fashion items are mass produced by machines in large factories.

Further, as technology becomes more prevalent, finding workers with required skills and knowledge to physically create these products is becoming more of a challenge in the industry. One could assume that Gucci pays a premium to maintain a skilled workforce.

Finally, Gucci is also known to complete a rigorous quality control of their products. What is quality control? It is testing of all aspects of a product before selling. It ensures that each belt buckle works properly, zippers zip, and that each wrist watch will stay fastened prior to listing the product for sale. Quality control takes time and money.

As you can see, the production within the Gucci fashion house is a big deal. With the brand making such investments in their product manufacturing, you can be sure this will impact the price customers are asked to pay.

2. High Quality Items

The standards for Gucci products are remarkably high, and that standard extends all the way down to the product materials. Gucci is well known for using extremely durable raw materials for fabric, threading, hardware, etc. Materials range from bamboo, to vegan leather, to crocodile skin.

Customers trust the materials to be long lasting and durable.

Simply browsing some of the handbags on Gucci’s site, it is clear that the materials used are high maintenance. The “materials & care” section for one particular handbag states that the bag should be stored with tissue paper inside and placed inside a provided flannel bag. Many Gucci products come with an additional dust bag simply for storage, to help preserve the product materials. This attention to detail and care is a signal of luxury, my friends!

With all these material aspects in mind, the customer should expect to be charged a higher price as well.

3. Historic Legacy

Gucci was founded in the early 1920s by Guccio Gucci in Italy. Prior to Gucci’s career in fashion, he was able to learn the needs and wants of people in terms of fashion and travel products. Knowing this, he began to offer quality products to fit these needs.

Gucci became an essential label in the upper class wardrobe. The brand quickly became a status symbol and products were passed down throughout generations.

Today, the Gucci brand is over 100 years old, which is a milestone in the fashion (and any) industry! The rich legacy of Gucci correlates to an increased product value and pricing.

4. Name Recognition

The iconic GG logo we all know and recognize as a symbol of Gucci, is another contributing factor to the expensive pricing many customers are willing to pay for Gucci products. It is more than just a logo or a color scheme, though.

Brand recognition is not something that happens overnight. If you recall, Gucci has been in the fashion industry for over 100 years. It took a significant amount of time for the general population to recognize the brand as iconic and luxurious.

Gucci has developed this reputation throughout the years, thanks to their high end clientele. Therefore, if you own a product with the infamous Gucci logo, others will likely automatically assume you carry a certain status.

5. Prestigious Status

Over the past century celebrities from first ladies to Rihanna have been seen wearing Gucci. It is no doubt that owning an authentic item implies wealth and luxury.

Many luxury fashion brands charge such high prices that the every day working class individual simply cannot afford. Why does this matter? Because pricing items at lower amounts would mean more people (with lower status & reputation) would have access to the products and be able to buy. This could take away from the prestige and branding goals. Therefore, they continue to charge very high prices to attract and retain a certain persona.

This exclusive market impacts the pricing and allows brands to charge more.

6. Loyal Customer Base

Many well known and reputable luxury brands, like Gucci, have also been known to sell out of particular items and even an entire collection! We are talking very very expensive products selling out of stock in a matter of hours. This is what happened when Gucci and KAI formed a collaboration collection back in 2021.

This proves that Gucci customers are loyal and they are willing to pay the cost, especially if they know an item is a limited edition!

7. Overhead Costs

With a background in business and accounting, I can tell you that overhead costs are usually a determining factor of final product pricing. Let’s take a look at a few overhead costs and why they could make a product more expensive.

Rent. Most Gucci retail locations are at luxury retailer sites that charge much more than your average rent at a non-luxury location.

Advertising. Have you seen an advertising campaign done by Gucci. Gorgeous. Not to mention, pricey.

Administrative costs. Gucci has some of the best designers, marketing specialists, and other skilled professionals in the industry. The salaries or wages of these professionals are included in overhead costs.

8. Design Elements

Gucci has been known to hire the most sought after designers. The history, experience, and unique characteristics of each designer sets Gucci apart from other brands.

Each designer grabs the attention of both existing Gucci customers, and new customers, to create a desirable products. These unique design elements, that cannot be found anywhere else, allow luxury brands to increase pricing.

9. Target Audience

As mentioned before, many high-end fashion houses serve a particular audience. They promote to the super wealthy and celebrity. Designs are curated for a particular lifestyle. Luxury brands create high quality, luxury products KNOWING this is what their ideal customer wants and will pay for.

Celebrities, fashionistas, and the wealthy have gravitated towards Gucci for decades. The image of Gucci is one of the many contributing factors to why Gucci is so expensive.

10. High Demand

With high demand, of any price, there must be an ability to pay for the product. History has shown us that Gucci has a customer base willing and able to pay for expensive (and gorgeous!) products. Where does the demand come from? Limited edition, exclusive designs, world renowned branding, desire, and everything else mentioned above.

This demand was not created over night, but it is surely something we have seen Gucci sustain over several decades.

Luxury handbags are a guilty pleasure for so many, especially the iconic Saint Laurent (aka YSL) bags. If you are wondering what the cheapest YSL bags are, then check out this list of the 10 most affordable bags!

Since Yves Saint Laurent took over the fashion world in 1962, YSL has expanded beyond couture clothing and now offers highly sought after accessories, including handbags.

Any luxury lover knows the exquisite craftmanship, luxury materials, and infamous branding associated with YSL handbags.

It is no secret that purchasing an authentic bag is nothing short of a big investment, so I have put together a list of the 10 least expensive bags.

It is important to note that there are several sources you can purchase YSL bags from. This list includes just two reputable retailers, Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus.

Also note, I have tried to narrow this list down to items classified as “handbags”. YSL offers a wide array of bags in all sizes, including mini bags, wallets (on a chain), wristlets, cosmetic bags, and other compact options.

These miniature sized bags are not included in this post. These are worth mentioning here because many of the compact sizes are cheaper than what I’ve listed here – you just won’t be able to carry much in them!

1. YSL Basket Raffia Tote Bag $1,1oo

The black raffia tote bag is an essential summer accessory and perfect for vacation. Its body is woven raffia and accented with calf leather straps and removeable logo tag.

Of all the cheapest YSL bags on this list, this is the least expensive and also one of the largest, which makes it a great deal!

TIP: The removable logo tag can be taken off in winter months and placed on this under $20 bag to make your investment stretch further. How fun is that! Since this bag does not have a zipper, I would also recommend a tote insert for organization.

2. YSL Small Basket Raffia Tote $1,350

Looking for a unique spin on the typical crossbody bag? This vertical bag might be the one for you!

What are Capsule Wardrobe Shoes

Building a capsule wardrobe not only includes tops and bottoms, it also includes shoes! And shoes are a very important aspect of any capsule wardrobe. Why? Because they complete an outfit and they can honestly make or break your entire style.

Capsule wardrobe shoes are versatile shoes that you get the most wear out of. They are shoes you can wear in multiple seasons and worn with several different outfits.

How many pairs of shoes do you actually wear in a year? If you’re like me, you have a handful of pairs you reach for again and again. These classic and comfortable pairs we gravitate towards most often are our foundational pairs of capsule wardrobe shoes!

Capsule Footwear Guidelines

Here are three things to keep in mind as you build out your capsule wardrobe and consider which shoes to include.

Color palette matters

Generally speaking, neutral colors are the most versatile. Black, white, tan, brown, and nude are all great options for footwear. They go with more items as opposed to bright and bold colored footwear.

Comfort is key

Always choose a shoe that is comfortable on you. Otherwise, it will likely go unworn. For a capsule wardrobe to be purposeful, each item should get the maximum amount of wear. That includes shoes!

Maintain your style

If a pair of shoes does not fit into your everyday lifestyle, don’t consider it a capsule shoe for YOU! For example, a stay at home mom likely has sneakers, flats, sandals, and comfy boots in her shoe capsule. A pair of shiny red pumps wouldn’t be included as an everyday shoe for her. Make sense?

Seasonal Capsule Shoes

Here are my picks for the top 3 casual chic capsule wardrobe shoes for each season .

Spring Shoes

White Sneaker: There is a reason I included this shoe in every capsule wardrobe guide last year. They are extremely versatile. Today, you see them styled with both pants and dresses! There are even business casual outfits that look good with a clean, modern sneaker. The versatility makes it an essential shoe every capsule wardrobe.
Chelsea Boot: I personally wear my chelsea boots for 3 seasons out of the year. They are particularly important during Spring due to the rain. These are both chic and functional, which is why they are included here on the list.
Ankle Boots: A nice, tan or beige ankle boot, like this, is a great option for Spring. The color will be cohesive with a lot of the lighter colors seen in Spring wardrobes. And the style will keep you warm on the cooler Spring days. This shoe can also be worn in the fall!

Summer Shoes

Black Sandals: During the summer it is all about staying cool without sacrificing style. I love a classic black sandal and I do include black into my Summer wardrobe. If you don’t, then white sandal would be a great alternative.
Brown Leather Sandals: These may be your most worn shoes of the season. They’re great for lots of different occasions and can be dressed up or down easily.
Strappy Heeled Sandals: While these may not get as much wear as other shoes, they are essential for dressier occasions like showers, weddings, dates, etc. They can even be pushed into late Springtime wear!

Fall Shoes

Riding Boots: Elevate an otherwise casual look instantly with a classic pair of riding boots. I opt for a nice, tall cognac leather pair. I’ve had cognac riding boots in my wardrobe for nearly 10 years and I don’t think they’ll ever go out of style!
Leopard Flats or Sneakers: Leopard is a neutral in the capsule wardrobe world. And it is true, leopard can be worn with a lot of different things! It instantly adds interest to any neutral outfit.
Loafers: Loafers are great because they are so comfortable but look fancy at the same time. When classic white sneakers are too casual for an occasion, a loafer is a good alternative to try!

Winter Shoes

Suede Knee-High Boots: These can be work with nearly anything. From sweater dresses, to jeans, to leggings. A nice little heel will keep you comfortable but allow the boot to be worn to more formal events.
Leather Ankle Boots: Another versatile boot that goes great with a lot of different pant styles. Choose a shaft that is tighter on the ankle for maximum versatility. When the boot hugs the ankle it can be worn easily under straight leg pants and jeans.
Cozy Ankle Boots: Unlike ankle boots of the Spring and Fall, Winter ankle boots should be designed to keep your feet warm! Opt for a pair with shearling, fleece, or faux fur lining. Depending on your location you may need to consider a pair made for the snow.

The Ultimate Capsule Wardrobe Shoe

Now that we’ve covered each season you may be wondering which shoe ranks #1 on this list. You also may be rethinking your current shoe collection and want to refresh a little bit! But shoes are expensive! And it takes a long time to build up to a full collection of capsule shoes.

So, if I had to pick one shoe from this list to be the most versatile and also a great starter piece to a new shoe collection, it would be the classic white sneaker! Keep in mind, this is for a mostly casual lifestyle, which may not fit your personal needs.

Nashville is known as “music city” and is the home to country music. There is so much to do and see when visiting this city, so you’ll definitely want to plan your outfits in advance. You may need outfits for daytime, nighttime, the pool, and special events.

Dolly Parton comes to mind as I type this. Nothing wrong with Dolly’s style (she’s still got it!), but if you want to blend in rather than stick out, this may be a look to avoid.
High Heels: Remember, comfort is top priority. Opt for low, chunky heels or boots and spare your feet the pain.
Too Many Accessories: Again, it is tempting to want to wear it all in Nashville. The hat, the boots, the belt, the fringe, the leather. All of that is fine, but the key is to incorporate these things into your outfits in moderation. Wearing fun boots out to live music? Maybe leave the fringe jacket at the hotel. Make sure your outfit is balanced and still true to your personal style.
Heavy Layers: While the weather can get very cold in Nashville, the bars and music venues stay pretty toasty! Leave you heaviest coat at home and instead focus on versatile layers.

What to wear with blue jeans in Nashville? A leather jacket, of course! If you are visiting music city in the Fall or Winter be sure to bring your faux leather leggings! Leather jackets are great for wearing over a cool graphic tee or pretty floral dress.

A pretty floral blouse or dress is the perfect way to add feminine country/western flare to your look without being over the top.

Can I Wear Heels in Nashville?

Depends on the event, I suppose.

If you are attending an event that requires little maneuvering between locations, then yes! Attending a wedding or conference at a hotel? Yes, wear the heels!

However, a full day of sightseeing, shopping, eating, and exploring will require a more comfortable pair of shoes.

Keep in mind, what you wear should always be dictated by the occasion, the weather, and your personal comfort & style.

What to Wear in Nashville by Season

As I mentioned before, Nashville does experience seasonal weather changes. Therefore, temperatures range anywhere from freezing to the upper 90’s, depending on the time of year. This will impact what to wear in Nashville. Always check the weather forecast before you go.

Below is what each season is typically like in Nashville.

Spring

Spring is pleasant in Nashville, with temperatures hovering around 70 degrees during the day. This is the season with the most rain and it can also be quite cold at night.

What to pack: Bring a sweater or a light jacket for chilly nights. An umbrella, rain jacket, and waterproof shoes are worth packing if you’ll be outside a lot.

Summer

Hot and humid is the norm for Nashville summers. Rain and thunderstorms happen occasionally as well.

What to pack: A bathing suit if you plan time at the pool. A sundress and comfortable sandals are a must for exploring the city. Leave the jackets at home!

Fall

Much like Spring, Fall weather is also very pleasant. Temperatures are very comfortable, with highs around 80 during the day and a significant cool down after the sun goes down. A welcome relief from the heat and rain.

What to pack: Blue jeans are a must in the Fall! Layers should also be considered as the temperature can go from warm to very cool, depending on the time of day.

Winter

Generally speaking, Winter temps in Nashville can be anywhere from 30-50 degrees Fahrenheit, sometimes even colder! The good news, you shouldn’t have to worry about snow too much! If it does end up snowing it likely wont accumulate very much.

What to pack: Layers, layers, layers. Jeans, 1-2 jackets, a scarf, and boots are all things I would personally bring to Nashville in the Winter. Don’t forget cozy socks to keep your feet extra warm when outside.

For a more dressier look, you can also go with wedge sandals or strappy heels in warmer temps. These are great options for casual and formal occasions, depending on dress code of course.

Many types of shoes can be worn with a long dress in the fall including ankle boots, flats, and mules (much like Spring). The key is to find a pair that complements your personal style, the style of your dress, and the activity/event you have planned.

In the Fall, boots are a great casual choice for a long dress. They will keep your feet warm while still looking good.

Need a dressier shoe for the Fall? Try a flat! Flats come in so many different styles and are nearly universal with maxi dresses.

For warmer temps, opt for mules with your maxi dress in the fall. A mule will allow your feet to breath while still fitting the season. Mules come in leather, suede, and other cozy fabrics that are popular in the Fall.

Topgolf is a sport and entertainment complex offering an indoor driving range, golfing games, and more for guests.

Topgolf is so much more than a driving range. While it is intended for guests to golf in climate-controlled bays, Topgolf is also a restaurant and bar which provides a casual atmosphere for those who are just there for a good time.

The Topgolf venue concept is similar to bowling alleys, except it is all about golf! Groups gather in designated areas, similar to bowling bays, and can partake in a fun driving range game if they choose. This makes Topgolf a popular destination for social events. It is great for date night, bachelor parties, a night out with multiple couples, happy hour, and more.

Does Topgolf Have a Dress Code?

Topgolf does not have a dress code! This is refreshing to know because most golfers are accustomed to strict rules for country club attire. Rest assured, you can even leave your golf shoes at home!

Can I Wear Heels at Topgolf?

Yes! You can wear heels at Topgolf. There is no restriction on footwear however, like I said before, they do require you do wear something on your feet.

It is also important to note that Topgolf is an expansive place and you may be walking a lot. From the parking lot, to the interior, walking should be expected.

Therefore, it is best to avoid any uncomfortable footwear at Topgolf. Wear shoes you can be comfortable standing and walking in for long periods of time.

What to Wear on a Date at Topgolf

Going on a date to Topgolf? Wear something cute, comfortable, and reflective of your personal style.

Here are a few outfit ideas:

Jeans and a cute T-shirt with sneakers
Oversized Sweater and faux leather leggings with flats
Casual t-shirt dress and jean jacket with sneakers

This can be an overwhelming and stressful way to start the day, mostly because you know you have tons of cute clothes in there somewhere. The problem is that in the moment, you have zero inspiration or motivation to piece together a single outfit.

If this is a regular situation for you, keep reading for 16 outfit ideas and tips for managing what to wear when you have nothing to wear.

TIPS TO AVOID THE “NOTHING TO WEAR” SITUATION

These are my personal favorite tips to follow when I don’t know what to wear. Most of these tips will not only help you figure out what to wear now, but also in the future.

A simple decluttering session can help you physically see what is actually in your closet and reduce that feeling of decision fatigue that occurs with an overflowing wardrobe.

Go Monochrome

When in doubt, try a monochrome outfit. This is a simple solution to pulling together a chic outfit within minutes. If you find yourself standing in your closet, stumped after trying several outfits, go for an outfit that is all one color. You’ll be surprised how quickly you get dress. An all black outfit is a popular option. Other monochrome outfits could be white, gray, denim, or navy.

Find Inspiration When You Have Nothing to Wear

Head over to Pinterest and search around for a few failsafe outfit ideas. Pin your favorites to a board you can easily reference for the next time you are struggling to put an outfit together. This is especially helpful if you have a wide variety of clothes because it can be difficult to simply remember different outfit combinations.

Avoid Trends When You Have Nothing to Wear

That new trend you’re seeing all over Instagram? Yeah, that won’t be in style next month… so don’t buy into it. Buying into trends now can create a problem for you in the future because they’ll no longer be trending. And guess what, you won’t be reaching for an item to wear that is no longer in style. So stick to timeless pieces today, and you’ll thank yourself later!

Try a Capsule Wardrobe

If you continue to experience the feeling “I have nothing to wear”, I highly recommend a capsule wardrobe. A capsule wardrobe is a defined number of garments that can be interchanged easily to create several chic outfits. Feeling like I never had anything to wear is one of the reasons I implemented my first capsule over a year ago. Since then, getting dressed has been so quick and easy!
