How do you know if the Winter Color Palette is perfect for you?
Your color season is determined by three characteristics of your personal features: hue, your skin undertone; value, or the contrast between your features; and chroma, or saturation of your features.
Three Defining Characteristics
Hue: The Winter Palette
Every skin color has a hue, which is marked by it’s undertone and is usually described as being cool or warm.
True Winter skin color has a very cool hue. Most hues in this palette have a blue base with minimal warm, or yellow, tones.
Value: The Winter Palette
Your feature’s value is set by the ratio of light versus dark. The value contrast is a scale measurement, with the mid point of the scale being an equal mix of light and dark.
The True Winter Color Palette sits on the right of the value scale, towards the dark end of the spectrum. Dark colors dominate this color palette, however there are a few light colors that are considered True WInter, such as bright white.
Chroma: The Winter Palette
Chroma is the intensity of your features. Intensity is of this palette as soft/muted or clear/bright.
Winter colors are on the bright end of the Chroma scale. They are not at all muted, but are clear and saturated.
Winter Color Palette Tones
Let’s talk about how the pigmentation of you physical features will determine if the Winter Color Palette is for you. The undertones and color of your skin, hair, and eyes are a key consideration to determine which seasonal color palette is most flattering on you.
