As you all know, this has been a major project of ours since we moved into the house back in early September (read the first post here). I am thrilled to show you the first glimpses of my finished wardrobe room. Since we were working on a tight budget, my husband installed everything himself. (I love you honey – thanks for all your hard work!)
I didn’t want built-in cabinets for my clothes, because I like the open feel this has and I can see everything so much better this way. We may add shelves on top of the chrome brackets, but I haven’t decided yet. In order to fit everything in here, I am storing some out-of-season items & will swap them with my winter pieces come springtime.
My crystal chandelier (found on Craig’s List for $25) creates a nice ambience & completes the old-Hollywood vibe of the space. This dresser was an amazing Goodwill find (see the transformation here), the mirror was a recent Hobby Lobby purchase (during a 50% off sale) and the silver tray came from Marshall’s (for just $30). The only missing piece here are these acrylic jewelry stands that would be ideal for organizing my bracelets & watches.
This wall of shoes holds all the pairs I am currently wearing (with tall boots lined up underneath). To keep the room balanced, we will be installing two more shelves along the wall by the door so I can store my sandals, open-toed heels & flats.
We already owned this leather bench, but didn’t have room for it in our master. I added the throw pillows (faux fur: Pier One – bought using a $25 birthday gift card, beaded: Bed, Bath & Beyond on clearance). I’m looking for suggestions on what to do with this window – some kind of roman shades, maybe?
Overall, I am so pleased with how it turned out (given the small 10×10 space we had to work with) and everytime I walk down the hall & look inside, it just makes me happy. Check back for part 2 of the transformation to see the vintage decor items I’m adding & the complete finished product!
I am green with envy! I want to get a bigger place so that I can have a closet/office/study room ๐
The decor is great, you did an amazing job!

This is better than any walk in closet! Great job! Love the look and it feels glamorous even in pictures!!!
OMG this is amazing! I just repined it on Pinterest as my dream closet. We are moving soon and I plan to have a wardrobe room & this is major inspiration!
totally in love! need that chandelier and i am so jealous you have the space for such an amazing closet. you're practically mariah carey stage. ๐ gorgeous!
This looks amazing! I especially love how it doesn't look crowded at all. Funny that you say 10×10 is small, my last apartment, as in the entire thing, was only around twice that size haha
Love it!! Beautiful! I really love the chandelier!
Are you kidding me!?!?!? This is ah-mazing! Love the chandelier and french inspired dresser! I would be inspired to dress up everyday!
xx,
Mary
This is so gorgeous, you (and your hubs!) have done a fabulous job. I'm super jealous now!

This looks amazing! I can't believe you did all of this on your own (jaw drops…) I would just sit in the middle of the room all the time and admire how beautiful it is ๐ (and how beautiful all your clothes are)!

Rachel – yes, I do that sometimes. I sit on the bench and read my magazines in there…it's such a happy, girly place! ๐

ooooh, i adore. I would LIVE in this closet. =)
I absolutely love this! I wish our new house had five bedrooms because I would have been doing this. Your room looks amazing!

I have never commented before, but have been following your blog for about 2 mos. now. I LOVE your closet! I'm moving in the next few months and am putting a space like this on my wish list. Thanks for the inspiration!
@Traceybee, thank you for following my site & for taking the time to comment today. I'm glad you were inspired by my room – good luck on your upcoming move! By the way, most of these materials were purchased at Home Depot for less than $100. ๐
Absolutely love it! I've always wanted a room that I could turn into a big closet.. makes getting dressed fun every morning. Can't wait to see the finished product! xo.

I love your closet this is ultimately every girls dream, for the window wall I would pipe the frame of the window with a contrasting blue or gold paint. another suggestion would to get silk window panel and get a cute, rustic curtain holder. Good luck
oh this is amazing!! do you mind telling me where you go the (for lack of a better word) things that your clothes are hanging on? Thats exactly what i need!!
Okay, I know I am late to this post but I just discovered your blog.. BUT I am freaking out right now because I have a closet room TOO! I thought I was the only one and I was completely crazy.. but I'm not! Okay, I love you even more now! LOVE LOVE LOVE!! Can I email you pics of mine?!

Where can I find the rods for the hangers?
What did you use to build the racks for the clothes?
