What Are Fashion Affiliate Programs?
Fashion affiliate programs are platforms set up by various companies and agencies for product promotion and advertising by bloggers, influencers, and content creators. With access to these platforms, you can create unique “affiliate links” to retailer sites that are traceable back to your affiliate account. Affiliate links are inserted into blog posts and other content channels to promote products.
When someone clicks on your affiliate link, you could earn a commission. Many affiliates pay commission on the sales generated after the affiliate link is clicked, while others will pay per click. Each fashion affiliate program has different commission guidelines you should understand in detail before joining a program.
Commissions are paid out to affiliate partners at specific intervals as determined by the fashion affiliate program. The method of payment and payment terms will vary by program. Many programs utilize PayPal, direct deposit, or some other online form.
Instant access to fashion affiliate programs is not guaranteed. Some affiliate programs require certain number of followers, readers, or pageviews before they will grant access. This usually applies to the most competitive and advantageous affiliate programs.
Why are Fashion Affiliate Programs Important?
It is hard for two months to pass when I don’t open the news to see more brick-and-mortar stores closing. Retailers that have been household names for decades. Why? Online retail.
Online sales are booming and it’s no secret that more and more people could continue to turn to the online retail industry for purchases in the coming years.
That is my personal opinion why fashion affiliate programs are so important. Now is the perfect time to find the best program(s) for your content!
Know Your Niche Before Signing Up
Before signing up for an affiliate program, it is important to determine whether any of the products fit into the fashion niche of your content. Not sure what a niche is? Read this post about setting up a fashion blog!
It is important to consider affiliate programs that have products within your niche. This allow for easy placement within your niche content.
How to Choose the Best Affiliate Program
When it comes to choosing the affiliate programs you want to work with, consider these six things before applying.
- Accessibility: Some programs have minimum requirements for their partners, including follower count, pageviews, and/or other analytical requirements. Consider these and whether your promotion channels (blog, social media, etc.) will meet the requirements.
- Products: How will the products offered by the affiliate program fit into your content? The more a product aligns with your niche, the easier it will be to promote in your content.
- Cookie Duration: Note the cookie duration of the affiliate program. This is the time period, set by the program, that you will be eligible for commissions after an affiliate link is clicked. the longer, the better.
- Commission Rate: This is the percentage you will earn on sales generated from your affiliate links. Lower rates typically hover around 5%, while lucrative rates are 30% and above.
- Commission Type: Generally, affiliates will pay a percentage of sale or they pay per click. Depending on the store and sales volume expected by your audience, you should consider if the offered commission type makes sense for you. If your audience doesn’t follow through with many purchases, then pay per click may be preferred. Whereas, if you have a loyal following that buys everything you recommend, then a percentage of sales might generate more earnings.
- Payout Terms: Does the payout method (Paypal, deirect deposit, etc.) and frequency (monthly, or every other month, etc) work for your income and cash flow needs?
