With Black Friday just around the corner, I’ve already begun creating my shopping strategy for this year. I know a lot of people don’t like fighting the crowds and standing in lines, but after doing it for 4 years & finding some truly amazing deals, I can honestly say that it’s worth it. If you go into the experience with a positive attitude and look at it as an adventure, you will have so much more fun & are less likely to get frustrated along the way. Despite other stories I’ve heard, I have always had the best interactions with helpful store staff & friendly fellow shoppers. I usually take a girlfriend or family member with me (last year my mom tagged along and she was a trooper!). I’ve found that it helps to have a partner in crime to keep your energy up + you can take turns waiting in line while the other person shops for last minute deals.
I decided to do a trial run earlier this week using a new app that I was recently introduced to called Shopular. For everyday life, I tend to do a lot of my shopping online and because I update my Sales Alerts page regularly, I am usually aware of the deals happening online at my favorite stores. But, so often retailers will offer different discounts online than they do in stores – even more frustrating is when there is a coupon offer and you don’t have it with you so you can’t take advantage of the savings. This is where Shopular comes in – you simply download the free app and quickly create an account with them. You can select your favorites from a list of over 200 retailers and it will add to your feed any sales and coupons currently being offered at those stores. For someone who doesn’t want to keep track of paper coupons, it’s incredibly convenient to have all that information right at my fingertips. No need to search online, save emails or print coupons!
Because I only recommend things here on PPF that I personally have tried & been impressed with, I wanted to share with you today about my shopping experience with Shopular. I had some returns to make at my local mall and as I was walking into the store, a notification from Shopular popped up to let me know that Lord & Taylor was having a huge sale. Which was perfect timing because there were a few things I’ve had on my wish list for a while. I simply clicked on the retailer’s name and it pulled up a 20% off coupon that I could use at checkout! In this particular case, I wouldn’t have been able to receive that discount if I didn’t have the app or the physical printed coupon for them to scan at the register.
