Though it sounds cliché, autumn is by far my favorite season – I’ve learned to have an even greater appreciation for it since moving to New York, because when fall begins, that means there are only a couple months before the snow hits. So I take full advantage of every opportunity to bare my ankles & wear light layers (sans outerwear). As much as I love coats & knit scarves, when I know I’ll be wearing them for nearly 6 months straight, I hold off for as long as I possibly can.
October is arguably one of the best shopping months because all of the early fall arrivals start to get marked down, so you can buy items for the current season without having to pay full price. Which is why I’m thrilled to be partnering with Lord & Taylor today to announce the launch of their Friends & Family Event, where you can get an extra 30% off almost everything + 15% off almost all beauty items! This is one of their best sales of the year, which makes it a great time to scoop up those final pieces you need to round out your fall wardrobe. I shopped their site & today I’m sharing with you the two looks I created featuring some of my must-have classic styles for the season.
Tweed is one of those timeless fabrics that’s ideal for the fall & winter months (and even early spring!). I think the best way to give it a more modern vibe is to dress it down with relaxed basics – the simpler, the better! A fitted white tee & cropped denim is all you need to keep it feeling fresh. Add in a pop of color with a quilted bag & you’ve got a timeless combination that’s both polished & comfortable. You could also wear this with classic pumps or pointed flats. More affordable tweed jackets to love: here, here & here.
What I’m wearing:

I fell in love with the color of this sweater & the balloon sleeves were just the icing on the cake! If you’re like me & typically gravitate towards neutrals, try adding a few deep rich hues to your closet this season. These pair especially well with a deep lip color (I’m loving this lipstick in Icon Pop – the perfect berry shade). Other knitwear in pretty fall colors: this curved hem sweater (in java), this ribbed sweater (in warm gold) & this turtleneck sweater (in evergreen) – all under $50!
I have no idea how these leggings are still in stock because they are so incredible – buttery soft, thick enough to give you a smooth silhouette and unbelievably comfortable (recommend sizing down as they do stretch with wear). Another way I’d style them is with this merino wool sweater, this faux fur vest & these black booties – so chic!
